What child doesn't love a zip-up cardigan? My version is knit in the round with steeks at the center front, neckline, and armhole openings. The bottom hems begin with a picot edging. Four colors of brightly colored worsted yarn are combined in mini stripes and a border of floral Fair Isle. A geometric Fair Isle pattern is worked for the remainder of the design. After knitting is done, the steeks are cut and sleeves sewn into place. A long circular needle is used to pick up the center front and neckline stitches. A mitered , striped border is worked and then a separating zipper is handsewn in. A small amount of embroidery is added to the border panel.

This design was originally published in my book Color By Kristin by Sixth and Spring in 2009.
